This design accomplished something that so far all previous designs had lacked. It divided my focus up into three clear areas: Print, Digital, and Creative designs.
The site that you see currently is a slight evolution of the original, designed to be more open and inviting. The previous version was very similar, but featured asphalt-grey headers and had a more somber tone. This version is more in line with my current branding.
With a similar goal to the "Coffee Bean" look below, I went into this design looking to simplify and lighten up my site, making it simple to do two things: look at my work and contact me.
This is probably my favorite design so far in that it is so self explanatory, and the blue square front page is a great, straightforward intro to the site.
Though I liked the "Stone" iteration very much, I felt it didn't represent me as a person as much as I'd like it to.
This version considerably lightens up the website and has a natural feel, inspired by paper, and colored in coffee tones. Though I enjoy it immensely, I never used it because I felt it was too large for the screen.
Here I went with a more serious approach than previous iterations. After experimenting with colors and textures, I decided to go with a stone look, with electric-blue "lighting" accents.
A nice aspect of this design is the side panel which gives all my contact information and current availability status at a glance on every page.
Though I liked the simplicity of the 2008 version, I wanted to give the visitor more of an indication of what the site was for.
This version includes a homepage with a bit about me and the work I do, and works harder at selling me as a designer than the previous design did.
My first full web design project was this first iteration of my portfolio. Many things were wrong technically with this site, but in terms of looks, it remains one of my favorites, and most people who see it agree.
The key to this version is the simple navigation, which presents the visitor with four clear choices on what part of the website to visit.
